I am a frequent customer at Hello Bistro. But I won't return to the McCandless location. I was there on 12/22 and ordered around 12:30. I had 47 minutes to assess how inefficient the staff was since that was how long it took to get the salad after I ordered it at the kiosk. There were 3 workers in the salad preparing area. It looked like there were at least two people in the back area. The entire time, the two younger women were staring at the food and the receipts attached to them and hardly moving. Not once during that time did they help prepare a salad. There was only one person making the salads and she looked very frustrated by the other two "workers." The food kept piling up in the back counter and they weren't bringing the food out to the carry-out spot or the dine-in spot. I counted 21 salads and sandwiches on the back counter and said to myself that somebody must have had a big order. But then I noticed that the orders would slowly trickle out to the pick-up area and often nothing was added. It turned out that these orders were a bunch of separate orders. When I did a head count, I counted 31 people in the restaurant and only 3 people had food. The rest were awaiting their food. It was easy to tell that nobody was managing this place on this day. When I noticed this trend of the food just sitting there and noticing that the order wasn't in need of something else being added to it, I finally asked the two slow workers when my food was going to be ready and I had waited 47 minutes. I don't know how long it was sitting there already, but they said it hasn't come out yet. The lady who was doing all of the work heard the tail end of my conversation and turned around and pointed out my order to the slow workers in like 2 seconds. She gave me an apology and said she hates working at this location because the staff doesn't help her. Sounds like this place needs a visit from Undercover Boss to help the ones actually working and fire the others. Just trying to make management aware so that this place can improve.
Love the concept, we get the burgers but substitute with a turkey patty. My favorite is the overeasy cheeseburger meal with fresh cut fries and boylyns black cherry from the fountain. The wife gets the same burger but has a gluten free bun.
The staff is super friendly and the location is in the heart of McCandless Crossing. Great spot for salads also where they custom make them like a Subway or Chipotle.
Convenient, tasty, big variety and overall a great place to try if you want a change from the usual fast food.
Hello Bistro is a casual restaurant that has several locations. Their menu lists mostly salads and burgers, and prices are reasonable. I ordered food for takeout. The employees promptly and politely served me. My food was ready after several minutes. I enjoyed the taste of my strawberry chicken salad, and my husband enjoyed the taste of his cobb salad. I would be willing to return in the future to try one of their other salads or hamburgers.
I haven't had this favorite restaurant of mine since pre-pandemic. My excitement to return was premature. They moved to an ordering kiosk. Understandable. It takes a lot of staff to serve each customer with custom salads. However, the 4-5 employees they had weren't attentive to cleanliness standards. I observed an employee check the condiment stand 3 times in my 45min visit. Each time, restocked utensils only. Not a sani dish with rag in sight. Everything inside the restaurant was filthy. Tables, condiment stand, restrooms. Flies in the kitchen/front counter area. Staff standing around made it more infuriating to me. I'd love to see their eco-sure scores. I now understand why there are not more locations. Great restaurant model in theory. Poor upkeep. Never going back.
Salads are great and kept us coming back. The fries on the other hand are usually greasy and floppy. Today they were actually brown. Tried to return them and was told that they’re all like that. Gross.
I use to give them only 3 stars but in the last year this place has really turned around. Great food, awesome customer service and so friendly. Clean and organized. Yep 5 stars now.
Eat at the restaurant, very poor acoustics, loud with only a quarter of the seats filled. The cashier was training, missed asking a few questions, and seemed the person training was new to the role. Staff were on their phones, and shrimp was in some of the surrounding food items. Had a burger, Southeastern BBQ. It was okay, just not the bold flavor I expected. I'm not a fan of string fries.
Really slow anymore. Kids used to love the burgers. Not sure what happened to them it might the weakest burger I have ever seen. Burnt to a crisp.
